Cognizant Bets on Freshers in 2025 to Support AI-Driven Work

Cognizant, the US-based IT company, plans to bring in 20,000 fresh graduates in 2025. That’s more than twice the number it hired last year.

The company wants to build a stronger mix of junior and senior staff, lower costs, and meet rising demand for AI-based software and support services.

Hiring Plans for 2025

Congnizant is focused on developing talent, enhancing AI capabilities, and driving productivity gains to create a future-ready, high-performing workforce. CEO Ravi Kumar S said the company is focused on three main goals:

  • Hiring more freshers
  • Using AI to get more work done
  • Managing staff costs better

Although total staff dropped by about 500 in early 2025, bringing the headcount to 336,300, the company believes this hiring push will help meet future needs.

Getting Workers Ready for AI-Based Work

Cognizant is teaching its employees new skills to match today’s needs. Ravi Kumar said the company is using AI tools to speed up delivery and help find workers who already have the right skills.

Also, 14,000 former workers have returned, and another 10,000 could come back soon. This helps the company bring back people who already know the business well.

Strong Business Performance

Cognizant saw a 7.45% rise in revenue compared to last year, reaching $5.1 billion in the first quarter of 2025. Based on this, it raised its forecast for full-year growth. It now expects 2025 revenue to be between $20.5 billion and $21 billion.

Revenue by business area in Q1 2025:

  • Health Sciences: $1.6 billion
  • Financial Services: $1.4 billion
  • Products & Resources: $1.3 billion
  • Communications, Media & Tech: $0.8 billion

Although new bookings dropped 7% in Q1 compared to the same period last year, bookings for the last 12 months went up 3%, reaching $26.7 billion. Four deals signed in Q1 were each worth more than $100 million.

Key Points

  • Large-Scale Hiring: 20,000 freshers to be hired in 2025
  • Focus on AI: Training staff and using AI to improve how work gets done
  • Better Use of Talent: Aiming for a stronger mix of skill levels while managing costs
  • Business Growth: Strong start to 2025, with raised expectations for the year
  • Rehiring Efforts: Thousands of past employees are returning

Cognizant is counting on fresh talent and smarter use of AI to keep its edge in digital and tech services.
