Role of Technology in Talent Acquisition in 2022

Role of Technology in Talent Acquisition in 2022

With Covid-19 easing down to some extent, people are hoping for normalcy to return over the next two years. While we have no idea how and when things will get back to normal, it’s pretty clear that we will continue to see the impact of the new normal on hiring as well as other HR functions.

LinkedIn reports that 81% of hiring professionals feel virtual recruitment will continue even after the pandemic is over. It is no secret that the pandemic has completely transformed the hiring process and the old school methods of hiring are being replaced with the modern methods of hiring in which technology is playing an essential role.

Technology in hiring can be a real game-changer as it can enable recruiters to ensure only qualified candidates are hired for the open positions. Apart from that, recruitment tools such as Applicant Tracking System or ATS can improve the candidate experience by bringing automation into the hiring process. Bad candidate experience can have a drastic effect on your hiring process.

According to PWC, 49% of respondents said no to a job offer because of a poor hiring experience. Therefore, it is prudent to make a stellar first impression to avoid losing top candidates and this can only be done with the help of recruitment technology.

The role of technology in talent acquisition in 2022 can’t be underestimated as technology, without any doubt, is the future. Below are some of the pointers that support how beneficial technology is for recruitment:

Get your hands on qualified candidates

Technology has made it extremely easy to seek out the best talent, not just locally but globally. With just a touch of a button, you can reach out to millions of qualified candidates all across the globe. Isn’t that great? Many applicant tracking systems are integrated with recruiting platforms or job boards that give your job advertisements much greater exposure.

You can also leverage the benefits of social media platforms such as Linkedin and Facebook that allow you to pick the best candidates from a wide pool of talent. This allows candidates from all over the world to apply for open positions. In short, technology creates a win-win situation for both employers and employees.

Screen the candidates

According to Glassdoor, the average job posting gets 250 resumes. Of those 250 resumes, it’s possible only 50 candidates possess the right skills and experience necessary for the job. So how would you find those 50 candidates? Sorting through these 250 resumes is daunting and can eat up a lot of your time. This is where an applicant tracking system can help you.

The software can be very helpful when it comes to resume sorting or resume parsing. Many recruitment technologies also help in the skills assessment of the candidates. Leading magnates such as Uber, Square, Nextdoor, and Reddit have seen success with incorporating automated assessment into their hiring process. It’s time for you to bring automation in your hiring as well.

Video Interviews are a thing now

Nobody could have imagined remote hiring as the new norm before the pandemic hit the world. But it is happening and it is possible only because of technology. Recruiters can post jobs, schedule interviews, conduct video interviews, and share offer letters from the comfort of their homes.

This is all possible because recruitment technology is enabling the recruiters to hold remote interviews. As per Jobvite, 61% of hiring professionals expect video interviews to be the default norm. Zoom, Google Meet, etc. are some platforms that are helping hiring professionals conduct hassle-free video interviews. Virtual interviews are as effective as in-person interviews and help recruiters assess the candidates remotely.

Better communication with candidates

According to the Talent Board Candidate Experience Benchmark Research Report, 52% of candidates don’t receive any communication in two to three or even more months after applying for a job. Now, imagine how damaging it could be to the overall reputation of the organization.

This is why technological innovations are becoming popular among recruiters that allow them to communicate openly with the candidates, set clear expectations, and share transparent feedback. Contacting candidates using the recruitment software has become a child’s play and has opened the communication lines for both recruiters and applicants.

This allows candidates to easily follow up on results and recruiters can inform candidates of any updates in the hiring process easily.

Data-driven recruitment

Bid adieu to intuition-based hiring, instead make sound decisions based on data. Recruiters can utilize the data captured during the recruitment process to see what worked and what didn’t and improve their future hiring decisions.

Recruitment software stores candidates’ information so that you have a talent pipeline of potential candidates that can be utilized the next time you have a job opening. With an ATS, you can also help gather feedback from the previous candidates that can be used to identify areas of improvement within your recruitment process.

Final Words– The years 2020 and 2021 laid the groundwork for virtual recruitment and this trend continues to grow as more and more organizations are adopting the remote or hybrid work model.

It’s difficult to know what lies ahead of us in 2022 but we can surely equip our hiring teams with the right tools and technologies to overcome any challenges in hiring. With the right recruitment technologies, you can streamline your hiring process and expect better results.
