A senior employee of Genpact India committed suicide at his home in Noida on Tuesday after he was accused of sexual harassment by women at his workplace.
Swaroop Raj, was the Assistant Vice-President of Genpact, a US-based professional services firm that has offices in Delhi-NCR. He had been suspended from his company over the allegations till the case was being probed.
He was suspended from the job after allegations of Sexual Harassment were leveled on him. Two female employees had accused him of sexual misconduct after which the company initiated action. He was prohibited from participating in any official work till investigation into the allegations wasn’t complete.
In the suicide note it was mentioned that though the allegations are baseless, he feared the “entire Genpact would know about it. Hence I do not have the courage to face anyone.”
“He denied all allegations and wrote that even if he is proven innocent, his reputation has been tarnished,” said Munish Chauhan, station house officer, Surajpur police station.
Confirming that the executive was suspended, a spokesperson of Genpact said, “It is with deep sorrow that we confirm the news of an employee’s untimely death. Our heart goes out to his family at this tragic time.” He added the employee was temporarily suspended after allegations were leveled.
