Birlasoft Appoints Varun Mittal as Sr. Director – Global HR Shared Services

Birlasoft, a cutting-edge IT services company, has named Varun Mittal as Senior Director – Global HR Shared Services, strengthening its HR leadership as it scales global operations.

In this role, he will lead global payroll, compliance, employee benefits, and HR operations across multiple regions

Extensive Experience

Varun has been with Birlasoft for over nine years, holding key positions such as Global HR Director, Associate Director – HR, and Head of HR Operations and Compliance.

He currently oversees end-to-end HR shared services, including workforce planning, annual operating plan support, employee lifecycle management from hire to exit, HR service desk operations, and contractor management.

He is responsible for managing payroll for more than 7,000 employees in India and supports HR operations across the US, UK, Singapore, Brazil, and several other countries.

He leads a team of 18 HR professionals and manages critical areas such as statutory compliance, internal and external audits, vendor management, and employee benefit programs. His work includes ensuring timely regulatory filings, maintaining required records, coordinating with labor authorities, and supporting global audit requirements.

Before joining Birlasoft, Varun held senior HR roles at Aircel Limited and Reliance MediaWorks Ltd. Across these roles, he managed large teams, led payroll and compliance functions, and supported business growth through structured HR operations.

Varun earned an MBA in Human Resource Management in 2004 and a Bachelor of Business Administration in Human Resource Management in 2002.
