Infosys has announced a major step forward in expanding its global presence by launching a full-fledged Global Capability Centre (GCC) practice.
This strategic move is aimed at accelerating growth in the rapidly expanding GCC market, which includes transformation deals, joint ventures, and embedded support for scaling existing centers.
Deval Shah, former MD and country head of Danske IT and Support Services India, has been appointed as the new leader of this practice.
Currently serving as VP and delivery head at Infosys, Shah brings deep expertise to his new role.
This appointment aligns with Infosys’ previous acquisition of Danske Bank’s IT centre in India, which brought 1,400 professionals into the Infosys fold following a $454-million deal.
Project Altius and Infosys Strategic Vision
In an internal note, Infosys detailed that Project Altius, one of its primary growth initiatives, is focused on winning more business from GCCs.
The company emphasized the need for specialized capabilities in solutioning, commercial strategy, legal, and tax compliance.
This expansion transforms Infosys Centre of Excellence (CoE) into a dedicated GCC practice, enhancing the firm’s ability to deliver end-to-end solutions for new and existing capability centers.
The note highlighted strong momentum in the GCC deal pipeline, with increasing demand from clients for Infosys’ support in setting up and scaling their operations.
Collaboration with Lufthansa Group: A $300-Million Digital Leap
Infosys also revealed a strategic partnership with Lufthansa Group (LHG) and Lufthansa Systems GmbH (LSY), valued at around $300 million.
The collaboration will result in the establishment of a new GCC in Bengaluru, focused on accelerating the aviation group’s digital transformation. This center will be pivotal in enhancing software development and providing robust support for LSY’s airline products.
Powered by Infosys Topaz, an AI-first generative AI platform, the center will deliver data-driven and sustainable aviation IT solutions. The initiative aims to address key industry challenges, improve operational efficiency, and elevate customer experience.
Leaders from both companies affirmed that this partnership represents a shared commitment to innovation, sustainability, and the future of global air travel.
