Kotak Mahindra Bank Names Bhavnish Lathia as Chief Technology Officer

Kotak Mahindra Bank, one of India’s leading private sector banks, has announced the appointment of Bhavnish Lathia as its new Chief Technology Officer (CTO).

Bhavnish’s appointment comes at a pivotal time as the bank aims to strengthen its technological capabilities and enhance customer experience.

The CTO position became vacant following the resignation of Milind Nagnur, who served as both Chief Operating Officer (COO) and CTO until February 15, 2025.

Bhavnish, who has been with Kotak Mahindra Bank since August 2022 as the Chief of Customer Experience and Head of Technology for the Consumer Bank, has now stepped into this critical leadership role.

His extensive experience in global technology, product management, and platform development makes him a fitting choice for the position.

Bhavnish Lathia’s Vision for Technological Advancement

Ashok Vaswani, Managing Director and CEO of Kotak Mahindra Bank, expressed confidence in Bhavnish’s capabilities.

He highlighted Bhavnish’s potential to effectively drive the bank’s technology agenda.

He stated, “Bhavnish has been instrumental in building a world-class team of engineers and advancing our technology initiatives over the past three years.”

“With his leadership, we aim to set new benchmarks for technology leadership in the banking industry,” Ashok stated.

Bhavnish himself emphasized the importance of technology in the bank’s strategy.

He stated, “Technology is a key driver of our strategy to transform for scale.”

“I am excited to lead our efforts in this area and push the boundaries of innovation to deliver exceptional value to our customers and stakeholders,” he added.

Strategic Goals and Recent Developments at Kotak Mahindra

The appointment aligns with Kotak Mahindra Bank’s broader strategy to enhance operational efficiency and customer satisfaction through technological innovation.

The bank has been focusing on rapid deployment of technology, with business leaders collaborating closely with their respective technology teams.

This approach aims to transform the bank’s operations for scalability and efficiency.

The announcement follows a series of significant developments for Kotak Mahindra Bank.

Last month, the Reserve Bank of India removed restrictions on the bank’s issuance of new credit cards. It also lifted limitations on the digital onboarding of customers.

These restrictions, imposed due to gaps in IT infrastructure, had been in place for 10 months.

The lifting of these limitations marks a new chapter for the bank. Bhavnish’s leadership is expected to play a vital role in this transition.
