Tata Croma Retail Promotes Shibashish Roy as CEO

Infiniti Retail Ltd., a Tata Group company, has promoted Shibashish Roy as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Croma, the consumer durables and electronics retail brand.

This leadership transition is part of a strategic succession plan, with the current Managing Director and CEO, Avijit Mitra, set to retire in March 2025.

Tata Croma’s Warm Welcome

Naveen Tahilyani, Chairman of Infiniti Retail, expressed confidence in Shibashish’s leadership, stating that his appointment is opportunistically timed to ensure continued growth for the company.

Shibashish Roy has been spearheading Croma’s omnichannel journey with a clear focus on strengthening brand affinity and enhancing customer experience.

With over 550 stores across 220-plus cities, Croma continues to expand its presence. They have a special focus on suburban regions of metro cities and tier-2 and tier-3 cities.

The decision to appoint Shibashish Roy as CEO is a result of a well-planned succession process within the organization.

Shibashish, who currently serves as the Deputy Chief Executive Officer, will take over the role from Avijit.

The latter has been with Croma for the past 18 years, including nine years as CEO.

Avijit will continue to be on the Board of the company as Managing Director until his retirement.

Shibashish Roy’s Career and Contributions

Shibashish Roy joined Croma in August 2021 as Chief Business Officer – eCommerce and Marketing.

His impact in this role led to his promotion to Chief Operating Officer in 2023. As COO he further strengthened operational strategies.

Before joining Croma, Shibashish’s career at the Tata Group spanned multiple leadership roles, including Vice President – Group Digital at Tata Sons and Assistant Vice President – Strategy & Business Development.

His tenure included pivotal positions within Tata Administrative Services (TAS), Tata Capital, and Tata Motors.

Here he developed expertise in business strategy, digital transformation, and operations.

Tata Croma’s Growth Trajectory

Under Avijit’s leadership, Croma has become one of the top three electronic retailers in India, well-positioned for further growth.

The company’s integrated shopping experience through its stores, Croma.com, and the Tata Neu app has been a key factor in its success.

Shibashish’s promotion is expected to build on this growth trajectory and drive profitable expansion for the company.

The elevation of Shibashish Roy to CEO of Tata’s Croma Retail marks a new chapter in the company’s leadership.
