GE T&D India appoints Mahesh Palashikar as Chairman of the Board
GE T&D India Limited (GETDIL) has announced the appointment of Mahesh Palashikar on the Board as Chairman. Mahesh assumes the role of Chairman effective 1 March 2021 and succeeds Vishal K Wanchoo who resigned from Board upon assuming new responsibility with another company, post-retirement from GE.
Speaking about the announcement, Pitamber Shivnani, Managing Director & CEO of GE T&D India Limited said, “We are delighted to have Mahesh join the GETDIL Board as the Chairman. Mahesh Palashikar is the President and CEO of General Electric Company in South Asia, since February 1, 2020. He is the Chairman of the Board of Directors of GE Power India Ltd. (GEPIL). He is on the Global Board of Directors of the US- India Business Council (USIBC). He is also a member of the India Executive Leadership Board of the US- India Strategic Partnership Forum (USISPF).
In his most recent role before this, Mahesh led GE’s Onshore Wind business for the Asia Pacific region (including Greater China and ANZ), since October 2014. Under his leadership, the Asia Pacific region teams achieved record profitable growth in several key markets of China, Japan and India.
Mahesh is a 20-year GE veteran who has worked and advanced through a series of complex and increasingly responsible assignments in manufacturing operations, global supply chain, quality, lean six sigma, sales, projects and services within GE’s Healthcare, Power and Renewable Energy businesses. During his GE career, Mahesh has lived in India, USA and China.
Prior to joining GE in 2000, Mahesh worked for more than a decade with Philips Electronics N.V. in its industrial and automotive electronics business in India.
Mahesh holds a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and a degree in Cost and Works Accounting from India, as well as a Master’s degree in Business Administration from USA. He has also received GE’s Six Sigma Master Black Belt certification while in the USA.
Mahesh is currently based in Gurgaon, India.
