Abhinav Kumar, the face of Trivago’s advertisements in India, has joined Paytm, and he replaces to Deepak Abbot as Paytm’s VP Product Marketing.
A Paytm spokesperson was quoted by media reports as saying: “We are excited to have Kumar on board, who is known for his expertise in product marketing. We are in the next phase of our growth, and his skills and expertise will be instrumental to our efforts of expanding digital payments in our country.”
Abhinav completed his Master’s in International Management from the University of Trento, Italy and has extensive experience in digital marketing. During his time at Trivago and thanks to the advertisements, the company gained massive recall and brand value which helped in the company’s India expansion.
Founded in 2010, Paytm is one of the first digital payment platforms in India. Besides individual transactions, merchant payments and PoS systems, it has ventured into financial products such as a payments bank and credit cards. Paytm is also active in the ecommerce space with Paytm Mall, and has also ventured into event ticketing services, wealth management, online gaming, insurance and gold services.
