
An Indian multinational corporation, Wipro has reduced the employee’s salary by 50 percent from Rs 6.5 lakh to Rs 3.5 lakh per annum.
Wipro provides training to freshers employees. This gives an opportunity to the Elite fresher candidate to upgrade to the ‘Turbo’ category. This also upgrades the salary package of employees.
Now, As per the email reviewed by Business Standard the company said in an email to candidates, “Like others in our industry, we continue to assess global economies and customer needs, which factor in our hiring plans. Currently, we have project engineers’ roles available for recruitment with an annual compensation of Rs 3.5 lakh.”

Wipro has said to its employees that Recently, The company went on to tell these candidates, “If you choose to accept this offer, all previous offers will stand void. We encourage you to grab this opportunity as it is time-bound.”
Harpreet Singh Saluja, President of Nascent Information Technology Employees Senate (NITES), said, “We strongly condemn Wipro’s unethical move to reduce the salaries of employees awaiting to join. It is unacceptable that the burden of the company’s financial troubles is being placed solely on the shoulders of the employees.”
“We demand that the management reconsider its decision and engage in meaningful dialogue with the union to find a mutually beneficial solution. We will not stand by while the rights and dignity of our members are being violated”, Harpreet Singh Saluja added.
Recently, Wipro sacked 452 fresher employees due to poor performance. The union of IT employees Nascent Information Technology Employees Senate (NITES) said that it ‘strongly condemns the unethical layoffs done by Wipro.’
Earlier, NITES President Harpreet Singh Saluja said, “For a year these employees were struggling to join the company despite clearing interviews, training, assessments, and internships.”
“The company has not paid a single rupee to these employees and fired them illegally. We will be submitting a complaint to the Labour Authorities to conduct an inquiry,” Harpreet Singh Saluja added.
However, Wipro fired the employees after taking an internal test. However, the company has waived 75,000 training costs spent on the employees.
