Lenovo, a technology company, yesterday announced aid worth Rs 8 crore towards COVID-19 relief work in India through the Lenovo Foundation.

Of this funding, Rs 5 crore will be donated in the form of medical equipment such as oxygen concentrators, refillable oxygen cylinders, invasive ventilators, and oximeters to hospitals where the need is high. The remaining Rs 3 crore will be dedicated towards hospital extensions and supporting medical frontline workers.

The company also appealed to all employees, partners, and customers to contribute to this cause and donate medical equipment to those in need. “In case you are interested in donating for this cause or know people who would be interested, kindly head to the America India Foundation page to contribute.” the company said.

Lenovo is also supporting frontline workers in hospitals with food kits in Ahmedabad across ambulance attendants, wards boys, and nurses in partnership with Yuva Unstoppable. 

Last week, few more Tech giants like Accenture, Infosys, Capgemini, and banking major Citi Group had announced theirs support towards fight against COVID-19 in India.

Capgemini has committed Rs 50 Crore to augment the efforts of the central and state administrations in India towards fighting the second wave of COVID-19. This fund will be used to build COVID care ICU facilities, oxygen generation plants, other long-term medical infrastructure and provide relief operations.

In addition, Capgemini is also contributing Rs 5 Crores to UNICEF to provide immediate support across India for critical COVID response care, by setting up 3 oxygen generation plants and RT PCR testing machines to augment the government efforts to fight against COVID-19.

Accenture has pledged Rs 185 crore for the ongoing Covid pandemic relief efforts in India. This is in addition to the Global IT and professional services company’s ongoing investments in people and communities, Rekha M Menon, Chairperson and Senior Managing Director of Accenture in India, said in a blog post.

To support its over 2,00,000 employees and their families in India, Accenture has built several resources including 24/7 telemedicine, care-at-home services, enhanced insurance coverage, virtual childcare, mental health support, and support for testing and vaccinations.

IT services major Infosys has doubled its commitment towards COVID relief efforts to Rs 200 crore that will be used to add hospital beds and augment the supply of oxygen concentrators and ventilators among other activities.

Citi Group announced an additional Rs. 200 crore pledge over the next three financial years towards India’s recovery and relief efforts against COVID-19, as the country, experiences a surge in cases. With PTI Inputs
