Avathon to Triple Workforce in India by 2026: Focus on Industrial AI

Avathon, formerly known as SparkCognition, has announced ambitious plans to triple its workforce in India within the next two years.

This move underscores the company’s commitment to advancing industrial AI across key sectors such as energy, aviation, and supply-chain management.

The rebranding effort reflects Avathon’s focus on integrating cutting-edge AI into existing infrastructures, aiming to convert traditional systems into autonomous, sustainable, and resilient ecosystems.

Avathon Strategic Expansion Plans

Pervinder Johar, CEO of Avathon, emphasized India’s crucial role in the company’s expansion strategy.

Pervinder said, “India is at the heart of Avathon’s roadmap, with AI projected to contribute over 50% of the Asia-Pacific region’s growth in traditional industries by 2028.”

He added, ” India will play a pivotal role in our expansion, serving as a hub for product engineering, delivery, support, and R&D.”

“Our rebranding effort aims to communicate the real-world applications of AI and how we’re revolutionizing industries like energy, supply chain, and aviation,” he said.

Avathon aims to make India its largest R&D hub by headcount worldwide.

The company plans to increase its workforce from approximately 140 to 400 employees.

They aim to hire majority of the new hires focusing on research and product development.

The CEO said,”Earlier this year, we were at around 70 employees. We already doubled that number in Bangalore and now have around 140 employees”.

He added, “‘We plan to get up to 400 over the next two years. A majority of that employee base, around 75%, will be focused on research and product development.”

Avathon Partnerships and Market Presence

Avathon’s AI platform is already being used by several oil and gas companies in India. They are using it for safety monitoring across thousands of retail outlets and terminals.

The company has strategic partnerships with tech giants like NVIDIA and Qualcomm.

Avathon is leveraging advanced AI technologies to solve industrial challenges and boost its market presence.

Pervinder said, “We have our centers of excellence in the Bay Area and Austin. Bengaluru is becoming the third one.”

He added, “The center here will be part of everything we do from a product perspective.”

He further siad, “The plan is to make it the largest R&D hub; till earlier this year, the only R&D we did in Bangalore was around computer vision.”

Pervinder concluded by mentioning, “This year, we started doing R&D across the entire platform.”

Commitment to Innovation and Sustainability

With over $100 trillion of aging infrastructure facing strain from supply disruptions, workforce shortages, and evolving security threats, Avathon aims to address these challenges through its AI-driven solutions.

The company’s dedication to nurturing talent and advancing R&D in India remains a top priority, even as its global headquarters recently relocated to Silicon Valley to capitalize on the region’s innovation ecosystem.

Avathon’s ambitious plans to triple its workforce in India by 2026 reflect the company’s strong commitment.
