Delhi on High Alert, Govt Cancels Employees’ Leave Amid Tensions

As hostilities escalated between India and Pakistan, the national capital, Delhi, was placed on high alert.

The Delhi government responded swiftly by cancelling all leaves of its employees and initiating extensive emergency preparedness measures.

Emergency Protocols Activated

District magistrates across Delhi have convened meetings to assess the city’s disaster management and healthcare readiness.

The services department issued a late-night directive placing a complete ban on government employee leave until further notice.

Officials from districts like New Delhi and East Delhi confirmed that rapid response protocols and gaps in emergency handling were being scrutinized.

Police Vigilance Intensified

Security was significantly heightened across the capital. Police and paramilitary forces have been deployed at critical locations, including metro stations, malls, markets, airports, and residential colonies.

Night surveillance has been increased, and additional forces have been positioned in sensitive areas.

Special commissioners are coordinating with deputy commissioners in all 15 districts, reinforcing law and order mechanisms.

DCPs, along with ACPs and SHOs, are actively monitoring the situation on the ground to respond swiftly to any developments.

Military Tensions and Preventive Measures

This heightened alert follows reports of cross-border shelling in areas including Jammu and an attempted Pakistani military strike on key Indian cities such as Srinagar, Pathankot, Amritsar, and Chandigarh.

Indian forces reportedly neutralized a Pakistani air defence system in Lahore in retaliation.

In light of these tensions, bomb disposal squads have conducted anti-sabotage operations at public places across the city.

Police have set up checkpoints at Delhi’s borders, with vehicles being thoroughly inspected.

Key Security Operation

A detailed inspection was carried out at Mayur Vihar Phase-1 Metro Station.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (East) Abhishek Dhania stated that 41 CCTV cameras and nine CISF personnel per shift are ensuring full security coverage.

The operation included a coordination meeting and a security briefing for CISF staff.

DCP (Southwest) Surendra Choudhary added that anti-sabotage drills have reinforced preparedness across critical city locations.
