Hexaware Employees Accused of Rs 4.83 Crore Fraud in Nagpur

In a shocking revelation, seven employees of Hexaware Technologies in Nagpur have been booked for allegedly defrauding the company of Rs 4.83 crore.

The fraud, which reportedly took place between December 2023 and February 2025, involved the creation of fake customer accounts and unauthorized refund transactions.

The case has raised serious concerns about internal security measures and the misuse of corporate systems.

Discovery of the Fraud and Modus Operandi

The fraudulent activities came to light during a routine quality check conducted by Hexaware’s internal audit team.

Discrepancies in refund transactions were flagged, prompting a deeper investigation.

The company’s general manager discovered that refunds were being processed without the return of faulty products, a direct violation of company policy.

This led to the uncovering of a well-coordinated scheme involving seven employees who exploited system loopholes to siphon off funds.

According to the investigation, the accused employees created fictitious customer accounts and processed refunds for non-existent returns.

As per Hexaware’s protocol, refunds are only issued when customers return defective items purchased through e-commerce platforms.

However, the employees manipulated the system to approve refunds without any actual product returns.

The refunded amounts were then diverted into accounts linked to the accused, resulting in financial losses amounting to Rs 4.83 crore.

Legal Action, Charges and Hexaware Technologies’ Response

Following the internal investigation, Hexaware Technologies filed a police complaint against the accused employees.

The Sonegaon police have filed a case under various sections of the Indian Penal Code. These include charges of criminal conspiracy, cheating, forgery, and breach of trust.

Relevant sections of the Information Technology Act have also been invoked.

The accused have been identified as Jayant Das, Aditya Dongre, Piyush Sodari, Mukesh Kumar, Pawan Chachane, Ajikya Meshram, and Surendra Agase, all residents of Nagpur.

Hexaware Technologies has launched an internal review to identify and address vulnerabilities in its systems.

The company has emphasized its commitment to maintaining the highest standards of integrity and security.

Enhanced monitoring and stricter access controls are being implemented to strengthen security measures.

Additionally, employee training programs are being introduced to prevent similar incidents in the future.
