Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has launched simplified mobile services that allow subscribers to check their Provident Fund (PF) balance without needing an app or login credentials.
The initiative aims to enhance accessibility, particularly for individuals in rural and semi-urban areas with limited internet access.
With this new system, EPFO members can retrieve their PF balance and last contribution details by simply giving a missed call or sending an SMS, eliminating the need for complex online logins or physical visits to EPFO offices.
EPFO: How to Check PF Balance via Missed Call
EPFO’s missed call service is a quick and free method for checking PF balance. Here’s how it works:
- Dial 9966044425 from your UAN-linked mobile number.
- The call will disconnect automatically after two rings, ensuring no charges apply.
- Within seconds, you will receive an SMS containing your latest PF balance and last contribution details.
This service is available 24×7 and is designed to reduce dependency on internet-based platforms, making it ideal for workers without smartphone access.
How to Check PF Balance via SMS
For those who prefer text-based inquiries, EPFO offers an SMS facility that provides PF balance details in multiple Indian languages.

Prerequisites for Using These Services
To access the missed call and SMS features, EPFO members must ensure:
- Their Universal Account Number (UAN) is activated.
- Their mobile number is registered and linked to their UAN.
- At least one KYC document (Aadhaar, PAN, or bank account) is linked to their UAN.
Without these prerequisites, the services will not function, and users may need to update their details via the EPFO member portal.
