British Airways India Celebrates 100 Years with Emotional Video

British Airways has released a touching video featuring 100 colleagues from India, celebrating the airline’s centenary of flying between London and Delhi.

The video showcases a heartwarming sense of community and captures the family-like spirit of the airline1.

British Airways in India: Celebrating 100 Years

This month marks 100 years since British Airways first started flying between London and Delhi, and colleagues marked the occasion by coming together to create a giant ‘100’ formation.

The short film shows colleagues joyously walking onto a lawn together in careful order, revealing the number 100.

The formation becomes complete with the airline’s colleagues joining hands and waving to the camera above in celebration.

Among those featured in the video are Renu Arya, who has worked as cabin crew for the airline for more than 35 years.

Aparna Malhotra, who has worked for British Airways for more than 30 years was also a part of the video.

She currently manages the airline’s day-to-day operations across the five cities it operates from.

Lisa Tremble, British Airways’ Chief People and Corporate Affairs Officer, said: “This video perfectly captures what it means to be a British Airways colleague..”

Lisa added,”.. – it’s about celebrating each and every individual’s originality, coming together to create something truly special.”

She further said, “Our people are our greatest asset, and we are so proud to have more than 2,500 colleagues based in India – making it our largest colleague base outside of the UK.”

A Family in the Skies

Nilufer Charna, Global Cabin Crew manager, also took part in the formation.

He said, “I’ve had the privilege of working for British Airways since July 1994, and over these 30 years, I’ve come to view British Airways as more than just a workplace..”

He added, “.. – it’s a family, a place where you feel valued, supported, and truly at home.”

Nilufer further said, “The people I work with are the heart of this company, and the bonds we share as part of the British Airways family are something we all cherish.”

“I have loved taking part in our celebrations to mark 100 years of flying to India, it has been a highlight of my career,” he concluded.

Additional Celebrations at British Airways

Elsewhere, colleagues of the airline company have been celebrating the centenary in other ways.

On November 10, the airline made history with its first-ever flight from Delhi to London staffed entirely by Indian-origin cabin crew.

New voiceovers recorded by Indian colleagues can be heard making announcements both at Indian airports and at London Heathrow, offering a more localized experience for travelers.

Customers flying with British Airways this month can also enjoy specially curated centenary menus, featuring items such as ‘Masala Chai’, and over 100 new Indian inflight entertainment options.

Additionally, the airline launched a new TV advert and brand campaign specifically targeted to the Indian market, marking its first in over eight years.

Titled ‘Family in the Skies’, the campaign showcases more than 100 Indian colleagues as the stars of the ad, airing across the airline’s routes in Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Hyderabad, and Bangalore.

The heartwarming video and the centenary celebrations highlight British Airways’ long-standing commitment to India and its employees.

The strong sense of community and family spirit among the colleagues is evident, making this milestone a truly special moment for everyone involved.
