Cognizant Trains 4 Lakh People in AI, Hiring for 2000 Jobs in India

Cognizant has trained 400,000 individuals in Artificial Intelligence (AI) as part of its mission to upskill 1 million people by 2026, CEO Ravi Kumar S. announced at the Nasscom Technology and Leadership Forum 2025 in Mumbai on February 24.

“This initiative blends internal capability building—what we call ‘eating our own dog food’—with client enablement and broader community impact,” Kumar stated.

Central to this effort is Cognizant’s Synapse initiative, designed to equip employees with expertise in advanced technologies like Generative AI. Collaborating with governments, academic institutions, and industry partners, the company aims to train over a million individuals.

Internally, Cognizant has already trained 30,000 employees in AI, with another 40,000 currently undergoing training. The company closed 2024 with a workforce of approximately 336,800.
