Infosys has announced plans to hire more than 20,000 freshers in the financial year 2025-26 (FY26), marking a renewed focus on entry-level talent.
This hiring target comes after the company successfully met its fresher hiring goal for FY25, onboarding between 15,000 and 20,000 graduates.
The fresh recruitment drive shows a shift from the more conservative approach in FY24, when only 11,900 freshers were hired — a sharp drop from the 50,000 onboarded in FY23.
During the earnings call, Infosys Chief Financial Officer Jayesh Sanghrajka confirmed its intent to scale up fresher hiring as part of their broader talent strategy.
He also mentioned that the company has already begun rolling out wage hikes, with major increments taking effect in January and the remaining increments implemented from April 1.
Positive Workforce Growth After a Period of Decline
The company reported a net addition of 199 employees during the January–March 2025 quarter, marking its third consecutive quarter of positive headcount growth following six quarters of decline.
For the full financial year, Infosys added 6,388 employees, bringing the total headcount to 323,578. This growth underscores the company’s stabilizing workforce strategy after a period of cautious hiring.
However, the company continues to face challenges in managing attrition, which rose slightly to 14.1% from 13.7% in the previous quarter.
Sanghrajka attributed this trend to multiple factors such as increased opportunities at competitor firms, rising demand from Global Capability Centres (GCCs), and employees opting for higher education.
Focus on Performance and Training Standards
While Infosys is ramping up fresher intake, it remains firm on maintaining training and performance standards.
Earlier this year, the company let go of 400 trainees at its Mysuru training campus who were unable to clear evaluation tests even after three attempts.
This move highlights Infosys’ continued emphasis on quality and capability development in its entry-level workforce.
With a renewed hiring push, controlled attrition strategy, and a focus on skilling, Infosys appears set to maintain its competitive edge in the global IT services landscape.
The upcoming year will be crucial in executing this balanced approach to workforce management.
