Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), India’s largest IT services giant, has announced plans to significantly increase its hiring of fresh engineering graduates in FY26.
This decision, revealed by Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) Milind Lakkad, is driven by optimistic growth projections and a resurgence in campus recruitment.
TCS: Increased Hiring Targets
TCS aims to exceed its current fiscal year’s target of hiring 40,000 freshers from engineering campuses.
Milind stated, “I expect that number to go up a bit more in FY26,” highlighting the company’s confidence in its growth prospects.
The company is on track to onboard its committed 40,000 freshers in FY25, providing training in cutting-edge technologies, including Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Generative AI (GenAI).
TCS is not only focusing on hiring fresh graduates but also investing in training students during their final semesters.
This proactive approach aims to make them industry-ready upon graduation.
The company collaborates with hyperscalers, enterprise solution providers, and technology vendors to offer specialized courses during the students’ final semesters, ensuring their swift integration into the workforce.
Higher Cadre Workforce
In addition to increasing fresher hiring, TCS is also bolstering its higher cadre workforce.
Milind mentioned, “From the demand side, certain verticals are doing well. We expect to have broad-based growth coming in,” indicating the company’s positive outlook.
He emphasized that AI and GenAI are transforming every aspect of the HR function, from talent acquisition and development to engagement and deployment.
TCS is leveraging AI to streamline recruitment processes, refine job descriptions, filter candidate profiles, and conduct more efficient interviews.
AI-powered tools also assist in analyzing technical skills, assessing soft skills, and providing valuable feedback for talent development initiatives.
TCS Employee Support and Workplace Culture
TCS is enhancing employee support through its AI-powered “TCS Buddy” platform, which provides employees with easy access to company policies and information.
The company has also implemented a return-to-office policy, encouraging employees to work from the office five days a week, linked to incentives to foster a stronger workplace culture and facilitate collaboration.
