Couple lose their Jobs for abusing their minor domestic help
The complaint was filed by Pinky Malik, the in-charge of the Sakhi centre that along with the police rescued the girl. According to the complaint, the couple made her work and also beat her mercilessly daily.

A Couple in Gurugram has recently lost their Jobs for abusing and torturing their 17 years old minor domestic help. The domestic help was based out of Ranchi in Jharkhand and she was hired through a placement agency.

The police arrested Manish Khattar and his wife Kamaljeet Kaur. Manish Khattar was arrested immediately but Kamaljeet Kaur was arrested in the morning as women can’t be kept in lockups at night.

The complaint was filed by Pinky Malik, the in-charge of the Sakhi centre that along with the police rescued the girl. According to the complaint, the couple made her work and also beat her mercilessly daily. The couple would not let her sleep at the night and also did not give her food. 

The woman worked with public relations agency and the husband was employed with an insurance company. The company announced its termination on Twitter.

On Kamaljeet Kaur’s job termination, the public relations agency tweeted: “We are shocked to learn about the human rights and child abuse allegations against Kamaljeet Kaur.”

“As an organization, we respect the Indian legal system and are strictly against any form of human rights abuse. The company has terminated her services with immediate effect,” it said.

The insurance company, where Manish Khattar was employed, tweeted that we believe in upholding high levels of ethical and moral conduct at all times.

“We have severed the employment of the individual with immediate effect,” the company said.

The FIR has been registered against the couple under sections 323 (causing hurt), 342 (wrongful confinement), 34 (common intention) of the Indian Penal Code, and provisions of the Juvenile Justice Act and the Protection of Children Against Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

The police have invoked POCSO Act’s section 12, which pertains to punishment for “sexual harassment”. Additionally, The police are searching for the placement agency that hired the victim for Rs. 10,000 a month
