Citing a resurgence in Covid-19 cases, Apple has delayed its plan for employees to come back to the office 03 days a week.
As per the company statement, Apple was all set to implement a work from office policy. Employees were supposed to work from the office on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays beginning next week. The return-to-work policy was originally scheduled to go into effect May 23.
Apple has informed the employees that it is delaying the return to office plan for “the time being” without any new timeframe for commencing a three-day workweek plan.
The company also reportedly said masks are once again required in common areas.
It’s not the first time Apple has delayed the return-to-office plans. A proposed three-day in-office schedule was revealed to employees last June and slated to begin later in 2021.
It was eventually delayed to January, then February, then again with a target date set for May. And now, less than a week before the return-to-office plan was to go into effect, it has been delayed once again.
Employees have raised the concern that the office return ignored the lack of a vaccine for young children. Apple employees have been working remotely throughout the coronavirus pandemic, and like other major employers, the company has repeatedly postponed and reconfigured its return-to-work plans.
Many Apple employees have been and are still expected to be in office two days a week.
