IT major, HCL Technologies has hired a total of 6,089 freshers for the quarter ending June 2022. The total headcount of the company is 210,966 globally.
The total employees in the technical category were 197,226 employees while 13,740 employees were in the sales and support category as of June 30, 2022.
In Q1FY23, headcount rose by 2,089 employees from 208,877 count in March 2022 quarter, while compared to the corresponding period last year – the count climbed by a whopping 34,467 employees.
HCL Technologies recorded a higher level of churn compared to the quarter ending March 2022, where it was 21.9%. Year over year, HCL Tech’s churn rate has increased 12%, from 11.8% in the first quarter of FY22 to 23.8% in the first quarter of FY23.

“HCL is focused on attracting, growing, and retaining talent to ensure a unified experience across the company. As of June 30, 2022, the total employees worldwide were 210,966. Net hiring was 2,089 for the quarter,” it added.
Of these, 28.30 percent of the employees were women, while the company also hired people from different cultures, as 167 nationalities were represented in 52 countries.
During the January-March quarter, HCL Tech reported a total headcount of 2,08,877 with a net addition of 11,100 employees during the quarter.
However the attrition remained high at 23.8 percent at the end of the first quarter of FY23, data released by HCL Tech showed.
HCL Tech First Quarter Results
HCL Technologies on Tuesday posted a 2.4% year-on-year rise in consolidated net profit to Rs 3,283 crore for the quarter ended June. Net profit was Rs 3,205 crore for the corresponding quarter a year ago.
C Vijayakumar, CEO and Managing Director at HCL Technologies Ltd said, “We have started FY’23 on a strong note with an overall growth of 2.7 per cent QoQ and 15.6 per cent YoY in Constant Currency.”
“Our services business continues to have robust growth momentum, growing at 2.3 percent QoQ and 19.0 percent YoY in constant currency, driven by our digital engineering and digital application services with cloud adoption being a horizontal theme across all services and verticals”, C Vijayakumar added.
The revenue of the company increased by 16.92% year-on-year to Rs 23,464 crore in the first quarter of FY23, compared to Rs 20,068 crore in the first quarter of FY22.
The Ebitda margin for the quarter of June stood at 21.2% compared to 25.2% in the same period of the previous year. The board of HCL has also declared an interim dividend of Rs 10 per share of Rs 2 capital each of the company for the fiscal year 2022-23.
