HCLTech introduces Higher Education Program for employees

HCLTech, a leading global technology company, and Purdue Global announced a new partnership to provide HCLTech employees educational opportunities.

HCLTech employees and their apprentices based in the United States will be able to pursue courses at Purdue Global to enhance their technology skills.

HCLTech’s existing Apprenticeship Program creates new career pathways for aspiring tech professionals by providing employment training opportunities and an education pathway for non-degreed individuals. Purdue Global joins Southern New Hampshire University (SNHU) on HCLTech’s preferred academic partner list.

As part of this new partnership, HCLTech will cover the tuition expenses incurred by apprentices for undergraduate degree programs at Purdue Global via the Purdue Global Advantage Tuition Grant (ATG), which provides 100% tuition-paid benefits on undergraduate degree programs, with books and course materials included and resource fees waived.

Full-time HCLTech employees in the U.S. will be eligible to receive a 20% tuition reduction benefit on undergraduate programs and certificates and a 14% tuition reduction benefit on graduate degrees or certificate programs.

“At HCLTech, we are driven by our purpose of supercharging the potential of our people,” said Ramachandran Sundararajan, Chief People Officer, HCLTech.

“We’re incredibly proud of the work we’ve done with our Apprenticeship Program, rapidly strengthening our hiring efforts and helping high school and entry-level graduates enter the fast-growing tech industry”, Ramachandran Sundararajan added.

Ramachandran Sundararajan further said, “Our expanding academic collaborations and investments in early career offerings represent a major opportunity for us to help our people upskill and advance their education and careers.”

The HCLTech Apprenticeship Program, which launched in September of 2021 as part of the company’s Rise at HCLTech early career and training program, gives high school graduates who do not have a college degree the ability to pursue a career in software development and testing, digital and cloud services, infrastructure delivery and engineering.

The program – described as ‘groundbreaking’ by a Technology Business Research Inc. special report – allows participants to work while furthering their education through 12 months of training and on-the-job learning designed to fast-track their careers.

The entrance of these opportunities into the U.S. and North American market will serve to draw even more talent into the workforce. Entry-level positions are currently available at multiple global innovation and delivery centers including locations in California, Connecticut, Michigan, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Texas.

“We are thrilled to be partnering with HCLTech, a leader in next-generation global technology and an award-winning employer, in providing higher education opportunities for their employees,” said Jon Harbor, Purdue Global Provost.

“HCLTech’s Apprenticeship Program provides an outstanding earn-and-learn pathway for trainees, and all employees will gain access to a wide range of Purdue Global degrees and certificates that will advance their skills and careers”, Jon Harbor added.
