
According to media reports, Mahindra & Mahindra hikes Rs 14,500 in monthly salary for 750 people in the Hingna plant.
The state labour commission has mediated an agreement between the management of the Mahindra & Mahindra Hingna plant at Hinga Road and 750 employees.
According to the agreement, these employees will now get a salary hike of Rs 14,501 per month as part of a 45-month contract with the automobile giant. However, the employees were demanding a hike of Rs 20,000 after the end of the last contract in April last year.
The negotiation was done by a senior official of the Mahindra Group, Mahindra Tota and from workers, side by Satyavijaya Kamgar Sanghatna, founder president Sanjay Mahalle, and union leaders Vinod Awchat and Pramod Pal.
Satyavijaya Kamgar Sanghatna, had furnished a 36-point demand of charter to the company.
The employee had responded with a 50-point demand of requirements. During the discussion, both parties scaled down their demands to five points each for the other to agree.
Assistant state labour commissioner Rajdeep Dhurve, who was instrumental in resolving the management-employee issues under the supervision of additional labour commissioner Nitin Patankar, said five joint meetings were held to come to an amicable conclusion.
Assistant state labour commissioner Rajdeep Dhurve said, “Various aspects of the company, its products, manufacturing rates, and other related factors were taken into consideration vis-à-vis the demands of the employees to arrive at the amount as justifiable raise in the salary component.”
Union leader Mahalle who was deputy manager in the company before retiring and starting the union platform to champion the rights of the employees.
“The company had agreed to a package deal of Rs14,501 for the employees entering into the agreement. New employees would get almost Rs52,000 while the senior-most would draw as much as Rs 93,000 or so. Even employees who have served more than 15 years shall get around Rs75,000 after the pay revision.” Said Union leader Mahalle
At Hingna MIDC, where several manufacturing companies have closed down, the Mahindra group unit has been one of the most successful ventures here, standing tall since the 1960s.
The company has a substantial manufacturing capacity for tractors and also exports engines to countries like Japan and Korea.
