An American multinational technology corporation, Microsoft is dedicated to aiding India in its journey toward becoming an AI-focused nation.
The dedication is in accordance with India’s objective of achieving self-sufficiency by nurturing a proficient AI workforce and enabling all sectors and industries to undergo transformation using AI.
“India is uniquely positioned to make the promise of AI a reality,” said Satya Nadella, chairman and CEO, Microsoft.
“We are committed to partnering broadly across the public and private sector to help close the nation’s AI skills gap and create new opportunity throughout the country”, Satya Nadella added.
Microsoft has launched a significant skilling initiative in India called ADVANTA(I)GE INDIA, as part of its Skills for Jobs program. The objective of this initiative is to provide AI skills to 2 million individuals in India by 2025. Microsoft aims to equip the country’s workforce with essential skills for the future through this program.
“The ADVANTA(I)GE INDIA initiative is a significant step towards democratizing access to AI skills across the nation and reflects Microsoft’s deep commitment to enabling inclusive growth with technology,” said Puneet Chandok, president of Microsoft India & South Asia.
“This initiative aims to propel India into a promising era of AI fluency, empowering citizens across India with the right skills to thrive in the age of AI”, Puneet Chandok added.
It is part of Microsoft’s overarching commitment to expedite India’s AI transformation. The skilling initiative adheres to Microsoft’s responsible AI principles, and training will be delivered through collaborations with governments, non-profit organizations, corporate entities, and communities.
In an effort to bridge the skills gap, ADVANTA(I)GE INDIA will prioritize training individuals in Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities, as well as rural areas. This approach aims to empower people in these regions to actively participate in the emerging field of AI and unlock inclusive socio-economic development.
