ONGC launches Women Leadership Program - Urjasvini

During these pandemic times, a landmark women’s leadership development program has been launched by ONGC. The learning journey – ‘Urjasvini’ was inaugurated by ONGC virtually on 23rd June’21 in the presence of esteemed Director HR – Dr. Alka Mittal, Executive Director and Head of ONGC Academy – Mr. Manoj Barthwal, and the larger ONGC HR team members along with the program participants.

This unique 5-6-month long program, to be executed in partnership with SHRM as a knowledge partner, is yet again, a testament to ONGC’s commitment to developing women leaders.

The program has been conceived with the following objectives:

  1. Grooming ONGC women executives to occupy leadership positions in ONGC
  2. Developing competencies such as Strategic Orientation, Team Leadership, Planning and Decision Making, Developing self as well as others, Result Orientation, etc in line with ONGC’s competency model, and
  3. Groom them to become role models, coaches and mentors for other women executives in ONGC

‘Urjasvini’ is planned with 25 participants at E5 to E7 level. All major disciplines have been represented. The program starts with diagnostics on psychometric tools to capture areas of strength and areas of improvements among participants. Pedagogy of the program will include lecture sessions, group coaching, individual coaching, debates, reading material sharing and interaction with industry leaders. The program will have certification of SHRM at the end.

In her inaugural speech, Dr. Alka Mittal urged all participants to participate fully in the journey and take full advantage of the world-class learning journey put together by SHRM. She urged the participants to ‘not hold back’, reminding them that each one of them are full of energy and are the torch-bearers of ONGC who have been handpicked to be part of this aspirational journey, that has been structured for them after going into minute details.

Mr. Manoj Bharthwal speaking at the function, talked about the wonderful ability of women and reminded the that they need to realize their full potential.

The representatives from SHRM, Mrs. Vandana Puri– Associate Director- PSE, shared a special message by SHRM India CEO, Achal Khanna welcoming Urjasvini participants to a journey of exciting learning opportunities and application in real-work situations.

Also, speaking at the inaugural function was Mr. Ashissh Kaul, Head- PSE and Associate Director-Knowledge and Advisory -SHRM India, who gave a walk-through to participants and dignitaries on the holistic development journey and the appropriate mix of all elements that SHRM will put together especially for ONGC.

He emphasized, that  ‘Learning is a relationship between participants and faculty to bring in a new sphere of performance.’ The inauguration was also attended by Ms. Neetika Mittal and Swati Thakur from Knowledge and Advisory Services, SHRM India.
