Swiggy workers go on strike again now in Delhi
Earlier, Swiggy delivery personnel last week went on strike in Bengaluru and in Mumbai. The delivery worker strikes across metro cities amid discussions about the industry’s poor compensations and lack of social security.

According to ET report, India’s leading on-demand delivery platform, Swiggy workers are on strike near an Instamart dark store in Lajpat Nagar, New Delhi.

Earlier, Swiggy delivery personnel last week went on strike in Bengaluru and in Mumbai. The delivery workers went on strike across metro cities amid discussions about the industry’s poor compensations and lack of social security.

Swiggy workers went on strike in Bengaluru, and some areas like JP Nagar faced 40% disruption due to the strikes. According to an update sent by a local Swiggy Manager to a restaurant partner.

A message sent by Swiggy’s person of contact (POC) to a restaurant partner warned about disturbance to its food service in certain areas including for its grocery delivery operation Instamart.

The message sent on Tuesday by the local POC said, “The strike has got media attention, hence has been able to spread across zones. Please let us know if you come across any indication about possible strikes in your respective locations other than the location mentioned.”

Swiggy in a statement said, “Dark stores are owned and operated by third-party sellers. We cannot comment on speculations around their plans.”

“Swiggy is currently serving all areas in Bengaluru and remains the on-demand convenience platform of choice in the city,” a company spokesperson said in a statement.

A company spokesperson said in a statement, “We have been able to address concerns around earnings and incentives and reach an amicable understanding. Delivery executives in the affected pockets of Bangalore have resumed work. We remain committed to addressing the queries of delivery executives as we jointly serve consumers.”

On July 24 that about 3,000 delivery partners of Swiggy went on strike across Bengaluru to protest poor pay, reduced incentives, and safety concerns.

The Bengaluru strike was called off on Sunday afternoon after Swiggy’s management had sought one week to address the delivery partners’ grievances. Nearly 10%-40% of areas in multiple zones were affected in Bengaluru.

Swiggy has a presence in 500 cities across India, partnerships with hundreds of thousands of restaurants, an employee base of over 5000, and a 2 lakh+ strong independent fleet of Delivery Executives.
