Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) is expanding its presence in Chennai with two new centres in Sipcot, Siruseri, a suburb to the south on the IT corridor.
The centres will have the potential to generate nearly 35,000 jobs, according to a State government press release.
TCS inaugurated phase I of the Centre 1 in May 2020 with an investment of Rs. 24 crores and laid the foundation stone for Phase II of Centre 1 involving the investment of over Rs. 876 crore on Tuesday at the Investment Conclave 2021 organised by the State government.
It also signed a facilitation MoU for Centre 2 (Phase III) with State-run Guidance, an investment facilitator of the Industries Department, with an investment of Rs. 900 crore at the Conclave organised, the release said,
The Tamil Nadu government on Tuesday signed 35 MoUs worth Rs 17,141 crore with an employment potential of 55,054 during an investment conclave in Chennai.
Tamil Nadu’s CM MK Stalin also laid the foundation stone for 9 projects, besides the inauguration of five other projects.
This will be the first series of MoUs to be inked by the two-month-old DMK government.
JSW Energy, General Electric (GE), Vikram Solar, Real estate firm CapitaLand, Avary, French company Cryolar, Cheyyar SEZ are some of the other companies that have signed the Memorandum of Understanding.
