Twitter employee who got fired sleeping in office breaks silence
The employee Esther Crawford now breaks the silence over layoff in the company. She shared a serious tweet expressing her views.

Earlier in November 2022, A Viral picture was shared of Twitter employee director of product management Esther Crawford who was seen sleeping on the office floor after working overtime in order to meet the stringent deadline.

However, she was fired in a fresh round of layoffs last week. The employee Esther Crawford now breaks the silence over layoff in the company. She shared a serious tweet expressing her views.

She said, “Seeing people who remain at a company after a round of layoffs gets demonized for not quitting in solidarity is truly bizarre. Empathy should be extended to both sides. It’s hard to lose your job and the people who remain often end up having to pick up even more work.”

“After layoffs, roles often change and some people get moved up to replace those who left. For people who were overlooked or under-leveled, the shakeup can give them a chance to shine. If you’re one of those people it’s okay to shoot your shot. Leaders are made in these moments”, Esther Crawford added.

She said, “For those laid off, it can be jarring to suddenly have a piece of your identity taken away — especially if you were truly passionate about the problem & work. It’s normal to have a lot of feelings as you rebuild a new routine and plan for the future.

“At the end of the day, businesses are not families – they’re teams. The company’s needs can change or new directions can emerge. If you’re delivering with excellence then you can feel good, no matter what happens or when your time is up”, she added.

She further said, “Many things are out of our control in life, so the best thing to do is be adaptable and antifragile — that way you don’t just bounce back from challenges but become smarter, wiser, and stronger because of them.”

After acquiring Twitter in a $44 Bn deal, Tesla boss Musk has initiated a complete overhaul of the company’s employee structure and business model. Just after taking ownership of the company, Musk fired Twitter’s top executives, including its CEO Parag Agrawal, CFO Ned Segal, and legal affairs and policy chief Vijaya Gadde.

However, recently Elon Musk-owned Twitter has announced significant performance-based stock awards for the remaining staff.

Elon Musk has sent a memo titled ‘Performance Awards’ to Twitter employees. The memo promises that the remaining employees will receive ‘very significant’ performance-based stock awards. The awards will be given out on March 24th.
