Wipro is rolling out salary hikes from September 1, 2021
Wipro, as announced in the month of June this year, the company is rolling out a second salary hike of the year for its employees from 1 September 2021.

There is good news for the employees of Bengaluru-based IT major, Wipro. As announced in the month of June this year, the company is rolling out a second salary hike of the year for its employees from 1 September 2021.

According to the company statement “Wipro will initiate merit salary increases (MSI) for all eligible employees up to Band B3 (Assistant Manager and below), effective September 1, 2021. In January 2021, the company had announced salary hikes for eligible employees in these bands, who form 80 per cent of the company’s workforce – this is the second hike in this calendar year,”

As already announced, all eligible Wipro employees above band C1 (managers and above) will receive pay hikes effectively from June 1.

The company has categorised its workforce into five bands (A to E), with sub-rankings within each band based on their work experience. Employees of the B3 band (juniors) are 80% of Wipro’s total workforce.

During the earnings call of Q1 results Thierry Delaporte, CEO and Managing Director said, “In the short term, there would be some pressure on account of people cost as the company has announced a salary hike for 80% of its employees, effective September 1 – its second hike in this calendar year,” 

This month, Wipro also invites online applications from engineering graduates for its Elite National Talent Hunt that is a fresher’s hiring program for B.E./B.Tech / 5 years Integrated-M.Tech passing out of 2022 batch for Project Engineer positions.

The company has announced to hire 30,000 freshers this year. The application closing date is September 15, 2021. And Online assessment will be tentatively held between 20th September 2021 – 25th September 2021.

Currently, the Bengaluru-based company has a total headcount of 209,890 globally. It has hired 12,150 employees during the first quarter of FY22.

As of now, the majority of Wipro’s workforce (over 98%) continues to work from home, however now with vaccination picking up pace, the company is planning to bring employees back to office from September 2021 in a phased manner.
