The National Green Tribunal (NGT) has announced vacancies for its Summer Internship Program 2025, offering students a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in environmental law and policy-making.
The internship is designed for students pursuing law and environmental studies, providing them with exposure to judicial processes, case studies, and legal frameworks related to environmental governance.
National Green Tribunal Internship Details and Eligibility Criteria
The NGT Summer Internship Program is open to students from recognized colleges, law schools, and universities in India.
The eligibility criteria include:
- Students pursuing environmental studies from any recognized institution.
- Law students in their third year or higher of a five-year law program.
- Law students in their second year or higher of a three-year law program.
Preference will be given to law students, particularly those specializing in environmental law and policy.
Duration and Structure of the Internship
The internship will run for four weeks, with the possibility of extension at the tribunal’s discretion.
Interns will be assigned to the Principal Bench of the NGT in New Delhi, where they will:
- Observe filing, listing, and maintenance of judicial records.
- Study the National Green Tribunal Act, 2010, and NGT (Practices and Procedure) Rules, 2011.
- Work on live environmental cases, contributing to policy research and legal analysis.
Interns must submit a research paper or report at the end of their internship, and tribunal officials will evaluate it.
Application Process and Deadlines
Interested candidates must submit their applications one month prior to the commencement of the internship.
The application process includes:
- Filling out the prescribed application form.
- Submitting the form to the Office of the Registrar General, NGT, Principal Bench, New Delhi.
- Sending applications via email to admn.ngt@nic.in.
Applicants must submit their applications for the Summer Internship Program by February 1, 2025, for batches running from March to July.
