After IndiGo, GoAir announces pay cuts to its entire staff

GoAir has extended pay cuts to its entire staff to reduce costs in line with falling revenue as the Covid-19 pandemic severely curtails global demand for air travel.

After Indigo’s company-wide announcement of top-down 5%-25% salary cut, now India’s other airline, GoAir has extended pay cuts to its entire staff to reduce costs in line with falling revenue as the Covid-19 pandemic severely curtails global demand for air travel.

According to an Economic Times report, Vinay Dube, Chief Executive of GoAir said the management was left with “no choice but to extend salary cuts for all of us for the month of March,”

“We will ensure that the lowest pay grades suffer the least,” he added without elaborating.

“When the tide turns again, GoAir will find a way to compensate all of you for the sacrifice you are being asked to make at this juncture” he added.

GoAir had previously laid off its expat pilots, and introduced leave without pay for its employees along with a paycut of up to 50% for its top leadership.
