HCL Technologies to hire 15000 freshers from campuses this fiscal year
India’s 3rd Largest IT services firm, HCL Technologies plans to hire 15,000 from campuses this fiscal year, This is nearly double compared to 9,000 it hired last year.
According to the TNN report, HCL HR- Head, Apparao VV, says ‘Hiring is based on two parameters, growth and backfilling we must do due to attrition. In the last quarter and in the current one, the attrition has come down significantly. This quarter, it looks like single-digit attrition. So our back-fill hiring will also be less,’
He, however, noted that the momentum has been hit by COVID-19 as campuses are not functioning and students haven’t finished their graduation. “Our recruitment and onboarding both have gone virtual,” he said. The firm onboarded 1,000 campus recruits in the June quarter. Apparao said the average salary for freshers is still at Rs 3.5 lakh.
Apparao said, “recorded higher productivity in the June quarter despite many working from home. About 96% of employees were working from home and approximately 2% were working from its centres and another 2% from customer premises.”
Apparao added, “the US order to temporarily put a stop to H-1B visas was unfortunate. “The short-term impact is not much, but if this continues, getting varied skills in the US will become difficult.”
