Acer India, a leading technology company, has taken a progressive step towards fostering workplace inclusivity by introducing a menstrual leave policy.

Under this initiative, female employees will be entitled to one additional day of paid leave every month.

The policy, named ‘Matrika,’ showcases Acer India’s dedication to supporting women’s health and well-being.

It also emphasizes the company’s efforts to promote gender inclusivity in the workplace.

Details of Acer India’s ‘Matrika’ Policy

The ‘Matrika’ policy allows female employees to take one extra day of paid leave each month, specifically to address their menstrual health needs.

This leave is offered as an additional benefit to their regular leave entitlements.

It ensures that employees can take menstrual leave without compromising their existing benefits.

The policy aims to create a supportive environment where women can prioritize their health without any stigma or hesitation.

The name ‘Matrika,’ derived from Sanskrit, signifies the divine feminine, emphasizing the company’s respect and recognition of women’s unique needs.

By introducing this policy, Acer India has taken a progressive step towards addressing menstruation-related needs.

It joins a growing list of organizations working to normalize conversations around menstruation and women’s health.

Leadership Perspective

Harish Kohli, President and Managing Director of Acer India, emphasized the importance of creating a supportive workplace.

He stressed that it should go beyond policies to foster understanding and respect.

He stated, “A workplace that truly supports its people goes beyond policies—it fosters understanding, respect, and real change.”

“With the ‘Matrika’ menstrual leave policy, we are taking a step toward normalizing conversations around women’s health and well-being,” Harish added.

Bhasker Bhandary, Senior Director of Human Resources at Acer India, echoed this sentiment.

He emphasized the importance of empathy and support in creating an inclusive workplace.

He mentioned, “At Acer India, we believe that true inclusivity goes beyond policies. It is about fostering a culture of empathy and support.”

“With the ‘Matrika’ menstrual leave policy, we are taking a meaningful step toward acknowledging the health needs of our women employees while reinforcing workplace equity,” Bhasker added.
