Odisha government has announced a 2% hike in Dearness Allowance (DA) for state employees and pensioners.
This decision, effective retrospectively from January 1, 2025, was declared by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on April 11, 2025.
The hike raises the DA from 53% to 55%, benefiting approximately 8.5 lakh individuals across the state.
The revised DA and TI will be implemented retrospectively from January 1, 2025.
Employees and pensioners will receive the increased amount as a lump sum along with their April payments.
The retrospective implementation compensates beneficiaries for the first quarter of the year, further enhancing the financial impact of the hike.
Odisha Government DA Hike: Details of the Announcement
The Odisha government’s decision to increase the DA and Dearness Relief (commonly referred to as Temporary Increase or TI for pensioners) reflects its commitment to improving the financial well-being of its employees and retirees.
The government will disburse the revised DA in cash along with employees’ April salary. Pensioners will receive the adjusted amount with their April pension.
This hike will provide much-needed financial support to government employees and pensioners, helping them cope with inflationary pressures.
The Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) confirmed that the decision aligns with the state government’s broader efforts to ensure economic stability and social welfare.
Beneficiaries and Impact
The 2% DA hike will directly benefit around 8.5 lakh individuals, including active government employees and retired pensioners.
This measure holds particular importance for families reliant on government service and pensions. It provides them with greater financial security to manage rising expenses.
Employee associations across Odisha have praised the government’s decision.
They view it as a positive step towards tackling the economic challenges faced by the workforce and senior citizens.
The hike will improve morale and provide a sense of financial stability to thousands of families.
