The central government has decided to make life easier for Senior Citizens to submit their Annual Life Certificate for the continued pensions. Now pensioners under the EPFO can submit their life certificates online anytime during the year. The retirement fund body said the reforms initiated in submission of life certificate or Jeevan Pramaan Patra benefits around 64 lakh pensioners.
EPFO said in a tweet. “Pensioners will now be able to submit online life certificate at their convenience during any time of the year. The life certificate will remain valid for 1 year from the date of its submission,”
Earlier, the process of generation and submission of life certificates used to begin from November 1 while November 30 was fixed as the last date to complete the process. Those who failed to complete it in November had their pension disbursal stopped from January but now pensioners can submit their life certificate any time of the year without waiting for November. Once submitted, the certificate will remain valid for the next 12 months.
To ensure that no pensioners are left out, the government as directed all Pension Disbursing Banks to make an exception list as on 1st December every year of those pensioners who fail to submit their Life Certificate and issue another SMS/Email to them for submitting the Life Certificate.

According to Livemint, Instead of submitting a pensioners’ life certificate physically after getting it attested by a bank manager or a gazetted officer, one can also submit a digital life certificate at any EPFO office, pension disbursing bank, UMANG app or common service centre. After the Jeevan Pramaan Patra is submitted, you do not need to send any document to the EPFO office.
You need to submit your Aadhaar card number, pension payment order (PPO) number, bank account details and mobile number during the biometric verification for the digital life certificate.
