In an American multinational technology company, an Amazon India employee lost his job just after 6 months after joining the company.
Amit Kore was working with Amazon India as an SDE. He joined the company in August 2022. Recently in January, Amazon planned to layoff 18,000 employees globally.
Amit Kore shared a LinkedIn post, “I wanted to share that my role at Amazon came to an end due to their decision to reduce the workforce. It was a first-of-a-kind experience for me, just like these past 6-7 months.
“While it’s been a challenging time, I’m grateful for the learning opportunities that came with working alongside such exceptional people”, he added.
“It’s not easy to part ways with the team you’ve grown to love over a such short period, but I can only thank them for helping me become a better developer in every sense”, the post added.
The post further said, “I’m now actively seeking new opportunities to apply my skills & knowledge to new challenges. If you are hiring for an SDE role or know of someone that is, I would love to hear from you.”
“During my time at Amazon, I gained proficiency in AWS, ReactJS, Java & Typescript. I also have hands-on experience with databases like MongoDB & MySQL, & a strong foundation in C++, OOPS, Data Structures & Algorithms”, the post added.
“Thank you for your support during this transitional period, & I look forward to connecting with anyone who can offer leads, advice, or simply a friendly conversation!”, the post concluded.
Recently, Amazon asked its corporate employees to work from the office at least three days a week. The company’s CEO Andy Jassy announced the policy in a memo to staff. The new changes will come into effect on 1 May. However, the company has yet to finalize the details of the policy.
