Layoffs again: HP, Twitter, MyGate to sack hundreds of employees

Layoffs are a tough decision for any company. However, there have been various companies that have been announcing layoffs. Now, the leading companies HP, Twitter, and MyGate sacking hundreds of employees.

HP

An American multinational information technology company, HP has announced that it will lay off around 100 employees in Israel. The company has cut major jobs from its digital printing division, HP Indigo.

Earlier in November 2022, HP was planning to lay off nearly 4000 to 6,000 employees. This layoff is nearly around 12 percent of the company’s global workforce.

Twitter

According to various reports and The Information reports, Twitter has now sacked a bunch of more employees in Sales and other teams. However, the number of people fired remains unclear. The company has sacked 800 sales and marketing employees as of last month. Recently, the company has also shut down 2 out of 3 offices in India.

MyGate

According to the reports, MyGate has sacked nearly 30% of its workforce. The layoffs will be effecting employees in mid-management and junior roles. The employee strength has come down from 600 employees before the layoffs to 400 after the layoffs.

Other major companies that laid off employees include Amazon, Google, Microsoft, Byju’s, Wipro, Yahoo, and Salesforce laid off a maximum number of workers globally.

Additionally, Disney will lay off 7,000 employees to make the business more profitable. Recently, Zoom also announced to sack of 1300 employees or roughly 15 percent of the company’s workforce.  Additionally, the Zoom CEO’s salary is to be reduced by 98%. 

As per the latest update, So far in 2023, there have been 502 layoffs at tech companies with 143,075 people impacted (2,751 people per day). In 2022, there were 1,535 layoffs at tech companies 241,176 people were impacted.
