Ajay Kapur, Managing Director and CEO of Ambuja Cements, has resigned after putting 26 years of service in the company. The board has approved the resignation.
Ajay will exit on March 1, 2019, the company’s board will announce a successor in due course, said a company’s filing to the exchange on Wednesday, 12th Dec 2018.
Kapur said: “It was not an easy decision to leave a company where I have built my career in an “I Can” culture for such a long period.”
Kapur, an economics graduate from St Xavier’s College, Mumbai also holds a master’s in management degree with specialisation in marketing and an advanced management program degree from Wharton Business School, US.
He had joined the company in 1993 as an Executive Assistant to the then Managing Director and Founder, NS Sekhsaria. Kapur has handled various profiles such as Marketing Head for West and South Region; National Head – Marketing and Commercial Services; Business Head (West and South Region) and CEO. Prior to joining Ambuja Cements, Kapur had worked with Citibank’s consumer banking business.
