Senior Executive Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer of BNY Mellon, Monique Herena will be will be joining American Express as new Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO), effective April 1.
Monique will be responsible for all aspects of our human resources strategy, including talent management, leadership development and compensation and benefits, as well as leading all human resources functions globally. She will work closely with the Executive Committee and
Stephen J. Squeri, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer.
Stephen J. Squeri said “I expect she will be elected an officer of the company by our Board of Directors when she officially joins us”
Currently Herena is a member of BNY Mellon’s Executive Committee, the organization’s most senior management body, which oversees day-to-day operations.
She is an Advisory Council Member of HR People + Strategy, and a graduate and faculty member of the Cornell ILR School CHRO Top Seat program.
She also completed the National Academy of Human Resources Foundation’s CHRO Academy and Kellogg School of Management Women’s Director Program. Herena holds a B.A. in communication studies from the University of Wisconsin – Parkside and an M.A. in communication studies from Northern Illinois University.
