Amway appoints Milind Pant as CEO, first Indian & Non-family Global Chief Executive Officer

Direct selling major Amway  announced appointment of Milind Pant, first Indian and non-family individual, as its Chief Executive Officer (CEO) with effect from January 2, 2019.

Amway has been co-led by Steve Van Andel who has served as Amway Chairman since 1995 and Doug DeVos who has served as Amway’s President since 2002.

Family connections still run deep at Amway, with some third-generation family members now working there daily. But many of them are “a little bit younger,” and when it came time to pick the company’s next leader, the need for a non-family CEO was clear, said Steve Van Andel, who is stepping down as co-CEO at the end of the year

Milind Pant, a resident of Dallas, Texas, who most recently served as president of Pizza Hut International, will be the first person to lead the Ada-based direct sales giant who is not a descendant of the company’s founders – Jay Van Andel and Rich DeVos.

Steve Van Andel and Doug DeVos will move to Amway’s Board of Directors where they will serve as co-chairs.

Prior to this, Pant spent 14 years with Unilever, a company whose products include Bryers, Dove, Axe, Hellmann’s and Lipton. He served in a variety of roles there, according to the news release, including vice president for foods for Africa, the Middle East and Turkey.
