Flipkart has appointed Smriti K. Singh as Chief Human Resources Officer and she is expected to join Flipkart by December 18. She was previously the Executive Vice President of HR for Sony Pictures Networks India Pvt. Limited and was also responsible for SPN’s Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives.
Flipkart’s CHRO position has remained vacant for almost 18 months, previously, Nitin Seth, who was COO, was looking after HR. He quit in May last year. Since then, Flipkart CEO Kalyan Krishnamurthy has held the additional charge of HR.
Smriti has a rich background in Human Resources and has been recognized for driving many leadership-based, talent development practices and establishing HR as a strategic and integral part of the organization.
Smriti started her career with Xerox India followed by 11 years with the General Electric Co. (GE) in various HR leadership roles in India, Tokyo, New York and Singapore prior to taking on the Head of HR role at Sony Pictures Networks India in 2011.
In 2015, Smriti was featured in Business Today’s ranking of India’s Hottest Young Executives. She was also presented with the 30 Women Super Achievers Award in 2013 & the Global HR Excellence Award in 2012 by the World HRD Congress.
Smriti is an MBA from IMI, New Delhi and has a B.A in Psychology (Hons) from Lady Shri Ram College, New Delhi, India.
