Former CHRO, GE South Asia, Ravindra Kumar GP has joined Tata Motors as President and CHRO, effective December 17, 2018. He replaces to Gajendra Chandel who resigned last week from Tata Group.
Ravi is a senior HR Leader, prior to joining TATA motors; Ravindra Kumar GP has been associated with GE for long time, 17 years and he was responsible for developing and executing human resource strategy in South Asia Region.
Ravi joined GE in March 2001 as the Organization & Staffing Manager for the John F Welch Technology Centre in Bangalore, India. In May 2004 he was appointed HR Leader for GE Industrial, India where he led the HR team that supported IT, Engineering, Commercial and Manufacturing operations of the various GE Industrial businesses.
From April 2007 to December 2010 he was the Regional HR Manager for GE Energy in the Middle East and North Africa regions. During this period, he was based out of Dubai and provided leadership to the HR team that supported one of the biggest growth regions for the business with employees spread across 17 countries.
In February of 2011, Ravi was appointed as the Organization and Talent Development Manager for GE GGO and was based out of Hong Kong. And in 2018 Ravi was elevated to CHRO South Asia Region.
Prior to joining GE, Ravi had worked with Asian Paints in India as a HR Generalist supporting the Commercial team and later moved on to their corporate office leading companywide HR initiatives.
Ravi has completed his Master’s Degree in Human Resources from Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai, in India.
