RS Sodhi steps down as Amul MD

RS Sodhi has announced that he steps down from the Gujarat Co-operative Milk Marketing Federation Ltd (GCMMF) the brand of Amul, as a Managing Director (MD) with immediate effect.

RS Sodhi said, “When I joined Amul in March 1982, our turnover was Rs 121 crore and about 12 lakh liters of milk was produced. Amul is the biggest food company in India based on the values of the founders of the company.”

“This year’s turnover would be Rs 71-72,000 crore. I was given the post of MD in 2010. Our turnover was about Rs 8,000 crore then. I believe this would be the number one dairy company in the world in the coming times,” he said.

The current Chief operating officer Jayen Mehta will be taking the role as an interim managing director. However, the reason for the sudden move could not be immediately ascertained.

RS Sodhi is an experienced leader skilled in Market Research, Account Management, Food Processing, Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG), and Business Development. He is a strong business development professional. He has been associated with the organization for over three decades.

RS Sodhi is an alumnus of the Institute of Rural Management Anand (IRMA). He completed his BE (Agri), in Agricultural Engineering from the CTAE Udaipur.
