Talent Mobility Platform BorderPlus Launched by Upgrad and OYO

Mayank Kumar, co-founder of edtech company Upgrad, and Ayush Mathur, former president of Europe at hospitality and traveltech firm OYO, have come together to launch BorderPlus.

This talent mobility platform is dedicated to connecting blue-collar workers with global opportunities.

This new venture aims to bridge the gap between global workforce demand and the supply of skilled labor from emerging markets like India.

BorderPlus Founders Vision and Mission

Mayank Kumar, an education leader and co-founder of Upgrad, continues to drive strategy and growth at the company while focusing on this new enterprise.

Ayush Mathur, who had a decade-long journey at OYO and last served as the President of OYO Europe, brings his extensive experience in global expansion and market dynamics to BorderPlus.

The mission of BorderPlus is to unlock global opportunities for blue-collar workers, starting with the healthcare sector in Germany.

The platform aims to streamline international recruitment processes and close the opportunity gap for India’s youth.

Mayank and Ayush share a vision to revolutionize international recruitment and effectively channel India’s demographic dividend toward the right global opportunities.

Initial Focus and Expansion Plans

BorderPlus will initially focus on identifying global opportunities within the healthcare sector in Germany.

The platform plans to expand into other areas such as hospitality, retail, teaching, construction, logistics, and trucking.

Additionally, BorderPlus aims to explore new geographies beyond Germany after 6-8 months of operations, including regions like the US, UK, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, Europe, Japan, and South Korea.

The training program offered by BorderPlus spans 6-9 months and provides flexibility with offline, blended, or online formats.

The course moves offline for the final month or two to ensure effective language learning.

The first training location will be Pune, followed by Mumbai, with plans to expand to additional cities nationwide for last-mile training.

BorderPlus: Technology and Support

BorderPlus is powered by a proprietary tech platform that facilitates language practice through interactive spoken exchanges.

The company is also developing an AI-led conversational bot based on OpenAI architecture for language practice.

The team includes Kevin Shah spearheading demand, Praniti Lal and Radnyee Naik bringing deep language expertise, and Subhendu Chandra leading supply.

The launch of BorderPlus marks a significant step towards addressing global workforce challenges and bridging the gap between talent and opportunity.

The platform aims to create transparent, efficient, and impactful pathways for skilled healthcare professionals and other blue-collar workers.
