Union Minister of Labour & Employment, Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, has announced the expansion of e-Shram portal language support.
Now, with the integration of the Bhashini project, the portal is accessible in all 22 Scheduled Languages of India.
Previously, it was only available in English, Hindi, Kannada, and Marathi.
Government’s Commitment to Unorganized Workers
At the launch event in New Delhi, Mansukh underscored the growing trust in the e-Shram portal, which averages over 30,000 new registrations daily by unorganized workers.
He urged all unorganized workers to register on the portal to avail benefits from various government schemes aimed at their welfare, livelihood, and overall well-being.
e-Shram portal aims to build a National Database of Unorganized Workers (NDUW), verified and linked with Aadhaar.
The delivery of targeted welfare schemes and benefits is facilitated by this database.
It provides workers with access to social security, job opportunities, and financial inclusion.
By leveraging technology, the portal fosters a more equitable and resilient labor ecosystem.
e-Shram Portal: User-Friendly Registration Process
To enhance the user experience, Mansukh mentioned that mediators like Common Service Centres, Bank Correspondents, Post offices, and MY Bharat volunteers will be engaged to aid the registration process.
This initiative aims to break language barriers, empowering unorganized workers to easily register, update their information, and access government schemes.
Sumita Dawra, Secretary of the Ministry of Labour & Employment, explained that the Ministry is working towards making e-Shram portal a ‘One Stop Solution‘ for seamless access to government schemes designed for the welfare of unorganized workers.
Efforts are underway to integrate all relevant social security and welfare schemes with the portal, including state government programs.
e-Shram Portal: Upcoming Features
One of the next planned initiatives is to launch the e-Shram Mobile App.
Additionally, introduction of a Single Common Application Form for single sign-on access and integration with payment gateways are also in the pipeline.
These enhancements aim to simplify access to social protection benefits and improve the user experience for unorganized workers.
The portal has already facilitated access to twelve government schemes, with ongoing efforts to integrate more schemes and improve outreach.
By including state government programs, the portal aims to provide comprehensive support to unorganized workers across India.
