The provisional payroll data from the Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) reveals that 20.74 lakh fresh employees were added to the ESI Scheme during August 2024.

Across the country, 28,917 new establishments registered under the ESI Scheme in the same month.
These establishments span various sectors, including manufacturing, services, and construction.

Among the new registrants, a remarkable 9.89 lakh employees—approximately 47.68%—fall within the age group of up to 25 years.

The gender-wise analysis of the payroll data reveals that 4.14 lakh female employees joined the ESI Scheme in August 2024.
This emphasizes the scheme’s commitment to promoting gender inclusivity and safeguarding the health and well-being of women workers.
The ESI Scheme also welcomed 60 transgender employees during the same period.
