ESIC has recently completed a comprehensive upgrade of its IT systems, aiming to significantly improve its service delivery mechanism.
This upgrade, costing Rs 312 crore, includes enhancements to hardware, middleware, software, and network systems, ensuring a faster, more secure, and user-friendly experience for stakeholders across all ESIC facilities.
ESIC IT Upgrade: Background and Objectives
Under the chairmanship of Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, Union Minister for Labour & Employment and Youth Affairs & Sports, ESIC has been actively working to modernize its IT infrastructure.
The primary objective of this upgrade is to streamline processes such as registration, contribution deposits, and appointment bookings, thereby promoting ease of doing business and enhancing operational efficiency.
One of the key components of the upgrade is the enhancement of ESIC mobile app, which now offers a more user-friendly experience and additional features.
Online appointment bookings have seen remarkable growth, with a 200% increase from 2022 to 2023 and another 177% increase from 2023 to 2024.
This improvement allows employers, insured workers, and beneficiaries to book appointments online more easily, both in hospitals and through digital platforms.
Adoption of the Dhanwantari Hospital Information System (HIS)
Dhanwantari Hospital Information System (HIS) has been widely adopted in ESIC hospitals and dispensaries, with a 40% growth in usage.
This system enables healthcare providers to better manage patient care and hospital operations.
It does so by providing better availability of patient records and previous case histories.
The connection pool for concurrent users of Dhanwantari Module and Insurance Module has been significantly increased.
This has resulted in a 50% rise in the total number of transactions since the beginning of the current financial year.
ESIC Improved Security and Connectivity
The upgraded IT infrastructure includes enhanced connectivity, security databases, and servers, ensuring a seamless and secure experience for all stakeholders.
The team successfully completed the transition to the new environment on December 22, 2024.
This was part of an ongoing Operations and Maintenance contract with the current System Integrator.
This transition has led to a significant reduction in the number of incidents reported. There were only 93 incidents for 1.5 crore transactions.
The IT system upgrade has had a profound impact on ESIC’s service delivery mechanism. Stakeholders now experience faster system response times and enjoy seamless interactions with ESIC services.
The upgrade reaffirms ESIC’s commitment to improving healthcare services, operational efficiency, and the overall experience of its beneficiaries and stakeholders.
