National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) has joined hands with the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC). They are partnering to inaugurate a cutting-edge Skill Centre in Kandivali, Mumbai.
This collaboration, formalized through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), promises to revolutionize skill development in the financial capital of India.
NSDC and BMC Collaboration: Key Highlights
The formal signing of the MoU took place in the presence of Union Minister of Commerce and Industry, Piyush Goyal.
This landmark initiative, organized by the CII, underscores the commitment of all stakeholders to empower Mumbai’s workforce with relevant skills.
The newly established vocational training institute at Akurli Village, Kandivali East, has already facilitated employment for 700 individuals. This has been achieved withing just six days of its launch.
This rapid success highlights the center’s immediate impact and its potential to transform lives.

The center aims to create job opportunities for 1 lakh candidates across diverse sectors in the coming year.

By fostering collaborations between industry leaders and training programs, it equips young people with the necessary skills.
The vocational training institute boasts a modern G+5 building with a built-up area of 3440.68 sq.m. Its location in Kandivali, a bustling suburb of Mumbai, ensures accessibility for individuals from across the city and beyond.

Piyush Goyal, Union Minister of Commerce and Industry said, “This skill development center is proudly dedicated to our Honorable Prime Minister, Narendra Modi ji, whose vision for a skilled and self-reliant India continues to inspire us.”
He added, “Within just six days of its launch, the center has already facilitated employment for 700 individuals, showcasing its immediate impact and the potential it holds.”
Mangal Prabhat Lodha, Minister of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Maharashtra stated “We have established this facility within just 44 days, a tremendous achievement that will provide opportunities to thousands in and around Mumbai.”
Mangal added, “This state-of-the-art center will attract individuals from across the country, demonstrating the power of effective leadership.”
Ajay Kumar Raina, Executive Vice President of NSDC expressed his views on the collaboration at the event.
He said “Today marks a pivotal milestone in India’s journey toward becoming a global skills capital, as envisioned by our Honorable Prime Minister.”
