MSDE has been making significant strides in enhancing the ecosystem of ITIs across India through its Skills Strengthening for Industrial Value Enhancement (STRIVE) initiative.
The primary focus of this initiative is upgrading training infrastructure and improving learning outcomes, with a notable emphasis on inclusivity.
STRIVE initiative: Upgrading Training Infrastructure
Under the STRIVE initiative, substantial financial support has been extended to ITIs in various states and union territories.
This support has facilitated the modernization of training facilities, ensuring students receive high-quality education and practical skills.
The initiative has achieved a commendable utilization rate of over 92% of the funds allocated to implementing agencies.
The STRIVE initiative has implemented capacity-building programs aimed at enhancing the skills of ITI trainers.
These programs focus on modern teaching methodologies and improving the overall learning experience for students.
This has resulted in better educational outcomes for trainees and stakeholders.
Additionally, the initiative boasts a 35% compliance rate in tracking on-the-job training (OJT), further enriching the practical skills of ITI students.
Focus on Inclusivity and Recent Developments
A significant achievement of the STRIVE initiative is the increase in female participation in vocational training.
Female enrollment has risen from 12% in 2017-18 to 20% in 2022-23.
This focus on inclusivity is pivotal in creating a diverse and equitable learning environment, encouraging more women to pursue vocational training and contributing to a balanced workforce.
During a recent event at Kaushal Bhawan, Shri Atul Kumar Tiwari, Secretary of MSDE, highlighted the progress and impact of the STRIVE initiative.
He stated that the initiative has considerably improved the ITI system by upgrading infrastructure and addressing key gaps in vocational training.
The event saw participation from World Bank representatives and officials from partnering state governments.
They discussed future strategies for skill development and the continued enhancement of the ITI ecosystem.
